Ocean Pointe

Want to buy a home on the west side of Oahu.  Look no further than Ocean Pointe.  Taking flight in 1998, Ocean Pointe established itself as a master planned community – a community today that is sectioned into three distinctive areas. Part of the Ewa plain, Ocean Pointe draws people to it with its palms and convenient one- or two-story home designs.

If you live in Ocean Pointe, you are all but guaranteed that your home will come with a fenced yard, a two-car garage, and central AC, provided it is one of the larger models. Therefore, this part of Honolulu is a nice place to settle with your family.

Land for the Ocean Pointe planned community was purchased in 1988. However, construction did not begin until much later. The first homes built in Ocean Pointe were not occupied until 1998, or nearly a decade later.

Home Values

Today, homes in Ocean Pointe sell for $600,000 to $900,000, with $750,000 being the average asking price.

What’s Going on in the Neighborhood?

If you were to talk to neighbors, you may be mentioning the upcoming real estate boom.

You may also be talking about HOA concerns, as this community, after all, is part of a master plan. While you may not be able to have a red-painted front door, you can still enjoy the amenities of maintenance and landscaping that come with an HOA community – important in keeping Honolulu a desirable place to visit and live.

The Nene

You may also talk to locals about the Nene – Hawaiian geese, who are also the state bird. Their name is derived from the bird’s soft vocalization. Residents may speak of the bird, as it is the rarest goose in the U.S. Therefore, its continued preservation is a concern.

Retail Favorites

Every community has its favorite stores, and Ocean Pointe is no exception. Some of the retailers that often are mentioned in Ocean Point include the nearby Safeway grocery, as well as Ross Dress for Less (Who doesn’t like to look their best while saving money?)

Ocean Pointe homeowners also like home improvement stores, two of the favorites being Lowe’s Home Improvement at 94-805 Lumiaina Street in Waipahu and City Mill Home Improvement Centers at 91-1061 Keaunui Drive in Ewa Beach. The Target at 4450 Kapoiei Parkway is another popular local retailer. The community favors its fur babies as well, with PetSmart in Kapolei being the recommended favorite.

If you want a quick commute to Kapolei or Honolulu, you will realize your goal by living in Ocean Pointe. You can access the highway and be in downtown Honolulu in about 30 minutes. It just depends on the traffic.
